The Life and Times of a Fainting Goat Farmer

Payment Processing for Farms

07:02, 2008-Apr-7  ..  0 comments  ..  Link

This year, our farm had our first kidding season.  Two doelings joined us on January 18th, and two bucklings followed on the 20th.  Though we've decided to keep the two girls -- both are lovely colors, small in size, and very friendly -- we are planning to sell the bucks to another myotonic goat farm.  Talk about selling has prompted us to consider our options for credit card processing, since not everyone is willing or able to pay in cash.

Of course deciding to accept credit cards is a big step.  In fact, most of the farms in our area are cash only.  However, we feel like allowing our customers to pay with credit cards will make them more likely to visit and less restricted by how much they can spend when they do.  This way, when we eventually open our petting zoo and begin hosting birthday parties, we will be prepared to accept payments from our customers.

If anyone out there has set up credit card processing for their farm, I'd love to hear your experiences!
